Video-Conferencing

ReSC manages the Meteorology Department's video-conferencing room in the Harry Pitt Building (WO56 on the university campus map), which has four cameras, ceiling mounted microphones and is capable of holding 40 people. We can set up video-conferences with multiple remote participants via the JANET Video-Conferencing Service (JVCS) or GoToMeeting. In addition to standard video-conferencing technologies such as H.323 and ISDN, the JVCS also supports IOCOM Visimeet, an enterprise grade system similar to, and compatible with, the Access Grid. We also support Skype and web based systems such as WebEx, but since we don't pay a subscription to use any of these other services we can't set up video-conferences ourselves, except Skype calls to one remote participant. Please contact us at access-grid@reading.ac.uk if you would like to use our video-conferencing facilities.

Users of the ReSC video-conferencing facility should arrive early to help rearrange the room furniture and are also asked to help return the room to its original state after the meeting, unless otherwise requested.
