    • e.g. on a mailing list? (Which one?)
    • Is everyone happy with agendas and minutes being on a public Wiki?
    • Investigate Skype for free teleconferencing?
  7. Related projects
    • C-SEKT (Andrew Woolf's Knowledge Transfer project to develop CSML, relevance to NetCDF Scientific Data Types)
    • ECOOP (likely near-future user of THREDDS WMS)
    • INSPIRE Discovery and View Services and 4-D data
    • GENESI (potential user of THREDDS?)
  8. AOB
  9. Next meeting

Notes

THREDDS WCS does not support reprojection (both because of a lack of time to implement this and worries about the concept of altering data)

Each dataset has a THREDDS WCS endpoint. Generates Capabilities on the fly. Should probably do the same for WMS.

TDS does not currently have a discovery interface although CS-W is being considered.

Both OPeNDAP and WCS share CDM stack inside the TDS. Should be able to build WMS on top of the CDM stack too.

Work on performance issues will happen in next version of TDS.

Object cache for performance increase? Google for "Object cache Java" EHCache.

Jon to document reprojection code (as Javadoc if poss).

Version of Java NetCDF libs to aim for initially: 2.2.22 (no future API changes on this line of development, only bug fixes). Any performance enhancements will go into 4.0. Should switch to 4.0 when it stabilizes. New THREDDS will also be called 4.0 (version numbers will synchronize with CDM).

THREDDS not based on Spring, but have looked at this. Separating out view from controller (i.e. MVC) in THREDDS would be desirable.

Grizzly - Java nio-based HTTP connector. Much faster file-reading, esp in 1.6. Tomcat doesn't appear to expose this layer hence might move away from Tomcat in future.

TDS 3.16 stable, latest WCS is in version 4.0. Probably sensible to target TDS version 4 with this project, but will decide later this month.

DONM week beginning 25th Feb? Jon to organize via email.

Plan for February

  • JB to complete Javadoc for ncWMS and release as soon as possible.
  • Unidata to read Javadoc and make decision on which version of THREDDS to aim at
  • Meet again (prob. in week beginning 25th Feb) and decide on detailed plan.
