See
the NW-Grid website
NW-Grid has four High Performance Computing nodes at the lead sites of Daresbury, Lancaster, Liverpool and Manchester. This provides a cost-effective commodity class HPC system initially with an aggregate capacity of order 512 processors expanding to at least 1024 processors.
The Daresbury cluster at dl1.nw-grid.ac.uk has the following specification:
- Sun x4100 cluster
- 192 processors
- 8-processor nodes consist of four dual-core chips
- Opteron DP280 CPUs 2.4 GHz
- Linux
- SCORE batch system
- PGI Fortran compiler v6.1-2
- Globus ???
