NW-Grid clusters

See the NW-Grid website

NW-Grid has four High Performance Computing nodes at the lead sites of Daresbury, Lancaster, Liverpool and Manchester. This provides a cost-effective commodity class HPC system initially with an aggregate capacity of order 512 processors expanding to at least 1024 processors.

The Daresbury cluster at dl1.nw-grid.ac.uk has the following specification:

  • Sun x4100 cluster
  • 192 processors
  • 8-processor nodes consist of four dual-core chips
  • Opteron DP280 CPUs 2.4 GHz
  • Linux
  • SCORE batch system
  • PGI Fortran compiler v6.1-2
  • Globus ???
  • SRB ???
